Book Reviews. I haven't forgotten about them, we've just been busy, haven't we? I hope you have been remembering to READ though!! Maybe one day this week, we'll go over the guidelines; but for now, keep reading your book and look for those elements of plot development we've been discussing in class. While you're at it, you might be looking for examples of conflict, figurative language, foreshadowing, and theme!! But, for this week's journal entry, I want you to tell me the name of the book you've chosen, its author, and a brief description of its exposition (what two things make up exposition again?). Also, tell why you chose this particular book and what you think of it so far!! Just give us an overview for now and then go back and read, Read, READ!! And don't forget about those Personal Narrative revisions!! :)

ReplyDeleteI finished my book a few weeks ago. It was called Just In Case by Meg Rosoff. The book follows a fifteen year old named David, or should I say Justin, Case as he tries to escape his fate wish became all to clear thanks to his brother. As Justin runs from his fears we meet up with the cross-country team, a girl with a camera, and an oversized rabbit. The story is set a few hours from London and is an extremely good read. I would defenitly recommend it. I've also been reading/finished the following: Looking for Alaska, Cut, and The Body of Christopher Creed. This is about the third time I've read Looking for Alaska and it still remains my all time favorite book. Really, anything by JOhn Green is amazing.

I read Meg, by Steve Alten. The setting is in present day about a 72thousand ton shark called a Megalodon which they had found from its rampaging mother and ends up getting lose back into the world. This is the second book in the series.
ReplyDeletethe name of my book is 1984 by george orwell. i have not started reading it. so i couldnt tell you about it.
ReplyDeleteI chose Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins because it's the second book in 'The Hunger Games' trilogy and I'd like to read all of them. So far I think it's off to a slow start like most books, but again, like most books it will pick up the pace.
ReplyDeleteThis book in the trilogy is about a girl named Katniss and she has to pretend that she's in love with another male that was in the Hunger Games named Peeta. If she doesn't she'll be killed by the Capital.
So far I think it's off to a slow start like most books, but again, like most books it will pick up the pace.
Well, ive read the last two books to the "Hunger Games" trilogy and its about the last surviving % of the human race all living in a place called panem and well they are ran by the "capitol" or presidents and every year there is an anual Hunger Games, where the capitol makes every one of the 12 districts sacrifice a boy and a girl (kids 12-18) to the games and in the games they have to figh to the death. I'm doing my book report on "Mocking Jay" the last one where Katniss thte main character has joined the rebles and has decided to take over the capitol and save panem. though she has lost so much if she does this act of rebellion, she may not have anything...not even her sanity to go back to.
ReplyDeleteI picked the book 30days to live, because it sounded interesting. And so far its not so bad.
ReplyDeleteHey, ieatfood, you got full credit for that entry only because I was amused by it--it's been a LONG week!! But I do hope you find that book SOON and get back to reading!! :)

ReplyDeleteThe book I'm reading is "The dark sacrament" True stories of modern-day demon possessions and exorcism, by David M. Kiely and Christina McKenna.
ReplyDeleteThe stories tell truth as they are written and then read in this book, two different exorcists are written about in this book, one of the two, did not release his real name, but the other, is a very well know exorcist in Ireland. His name is William H. Lendrum, and his stories, along with the other mans, are all true, and they DID happen.
i think the quotation The man who does not read good books has no advantage over the man who can't read by Mark Twain means that anyone who deosnt want to read or cant read is missing the best parts of life that a person that knows how to read has. i think this because books are like children to some people. for example in the series of inkdeath the grandmother named elenore has a library full of books. in the first book inkspell a group of people read out of a book by mo "aka silvertongue or bluejay" come to her house to capture meggie, silvertongue, and elenor. in the process of capturing them they destroy all of her books and elenor flips out. the people read out of the book are capricorn, dustfinger, and battista. they were read out of the book by silvertongue like i said and in their place goes silvertongue's wife Resa. my book is the third book of the series called inkdeath.
ReplyDeleteWell my book is on my shelf but i have yet to pick it so when i do i'll let you know and im a fast reader so don't worry about me not having it read in time im pretty sure I've read enough for 10 kids my age anywho.

Theres two guys George a small man but quick. then theres Lennie a man of tremendous size and very strong, has a mind like a little kid. they went around the country becuase of the depression the united states went into... but this book is to long to explain but its a great book and i recumend this book to anyone...
ReplyDeleteI have not read a book in months. I cant even remember the last book i read. Now i am reading The afterlife by Gary Soto. This book so far is mainly about a teenage boy who feels like his life is is just plain and dull. Nothing interesting seems to happen to him. He then gets stabbed, knife in the ribs. Thats what begins to make his life more interesting and fun.He now sees the world in a different way. So far it is a good book. One of the best i have read in a long long time. It was recommended to me by a friend.
ReplyDeleteMy book is The Kite Runner by Khaled Hoesseini. This book is about a boy who grows up in a wealthy lifestyle but the Afghan war soon takes place and he is forced to leave the country. On his depart he is faced with many challenges involving friends and family. He has to start a new life in America but soon returns to Afghanistan to redeem himself for what he's done in the past. The book is great and quickly pulls you in. A friend recommended me this book and I'm glad I chose it.

ReplyDeletethe book i chose for my book review is The Twilight Saga Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer this book is the final book in the series and it kindof in a way ends the story of Edward and Bella Cullen (yes they got married) and their Daughter Renesemee and the ever important Jacob Black. there are conflicts after bella agrees to marry edward and it goes from there...
ReplyDeleteBooks! Books! Books! I wish my room is a big library! Because I love Books! Except i don't like romance and drama. I like comedy, action, comics, a little bit of horror, sci-fiction, and mystery. Sometimes its hard for me to remember what happened in the story. but i am trying my best to look over a couple of times.
ReplyDeleteMy book is The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown and the its full of 100% factual info on some crazy stories of tests done by the government or the health department.
